On Saturday, June 28th, the fourth annual "Help is Life" Charity Picnic took place in Niziny. This event has become a permanent fixture in the local community initiatives calendar. The event was conceived and organized by Dariusz Pałka and his friends.
This year’s edition brought an impressive result – over PLN 40,538.90 was collected, all of which was donated to help three children struggling with serious illnesses: three-year-old Lena Wojtun from Ostrów in the Radymno commune, who is battling optic nerve glioma; thirteen-year-old Julita Chachaj from Radymno, who suffers from quadriplegia; and seventeen-year-old Bartłomiej Tymoczko from Olszynka in the Orły commune, who suffers from cystic fibrosis.
The picnic was held under the honorary patronage of the Starosta of Przemyśl County, Bożena Ryczan; the Starosta of Jarosław County, Kamil Dziukiewicz; the Mayor of Orły Commune, Bogusław Słabicki; and the Mayor of Radymno Commune, Bogdan Szylar. The official opening ceremony was performed by the Mayor of Orły Commune, Bogusław Słabicki, together with the Chairman of the Orły Commune Council, Jacek Duda.
The organizers made sure no one was bored. The audience was captivated by a magic show performed by illusionist Mateusz Sawicz "Sulimam," and the "Mototrasa Jarosław i Przyjaciele" motorcycling rally and a vintage car show captured the hearts of car enthusiasts. Children could enjoy inflatable slides, a zipline, a foam party, creative activities prepared by the Municipal Public Library in Orły, and entertainment provided by the Przemyśl Society of Friends of Children.
Demonstrations of uniformed services equipment – the Border Guard, the Polish Army (1st Tank Battalion in Żurawica), and local volunteer fire departments from Niziny and Sośnica – also generated considerable interest. There were also sporting events with the UKS Młode Wilki (Young Wolves Sports Club), horse-drawn carriage rides, and unforgettable rides on a colorful train, which – thanks to the village head of Ostrów – brought a lot of joy to the children.
An integral part of the picnic was the food court, serving firefighter pea soup and bigos, as well as homemade delicacies prepared by the Rural Women's Circles of Niziny and Olszynka and the Niziny Razem Association. Their delicacies not only satisfied the appetite but also won the guests' approval. Performances by Rompey, Farben Lehre, the Rivers band, and DJ UnderG were on stage, and the event was hosted by Barbara Wilk and Wojciech Pelc.
The event's success is due to the commitment of volunteers, the support of sponsors, and, above all, the open hearts of residents and guests. The organizers thank everyone who contributed to this noble initiative. We hope that the "Help is Life" Charity Picnic will continue and continue to provide real help to children in need in the years to come.
